Cost Action WebDataNet has finished

The Cost Action WebDataNet has finished in June 2015. The interdisciplinary network was established in 2011 and consisted of European researchers sharing interest in web data collection. It supported scientific discussions, enabled the organization of conferences, working groups and research exchanges. Among its achievements is the development of a master programme Webdatametrics where  six professors from the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana are participating as teachers, among them Katja Lozar Manfreda, Andraž Petrovčič, Vesna Dolničar and Jaro Berce from Centre for Social Informatics.

The recently published book Web Survey Metodology by Mario Callegaro, Katja Lozar Manfreda and Vasja Vehovar is also partially a result of this Cost Action. Katja Lozar Manfreda was one of the core members of the action, leading  the work group on Quality issues in web surveys and several task forces.

Ana Slavec was also actively involved in the WebDataNet Cost Action, led the task force on Evaluation of questionnaire quality and participated in many others. The other active members of this Action from the Centre for Social Informatics were Vasja Vehovar, Andraž Petrovčič, Nejc Berzelak, Anže Sendelbach, Gregor Čehovin and students Nino Zajc and Miha Matjašič. Both students and Ana Slavec were also visiting other Cost Action Members (Nino in Iceland, Miha in Greece, Ana in Italy and Netherlands) within the Short Term Scientific Missions, while the Centre for Social Informatics hosted several researchers (from Greece and Spain) within this same instrument (from Greece and Spain).

The action concluded with the WebDataNet conference where joint papers of members of the action from over 20 countries were presented. Members of the Centre for Social Informatics were actively participating at the conference, presenting five research papers and chairing three sessions, as can be seen from the programme of the conference.
