University of Ljubljana: With its more than 56,000 undergraduate and post-graduate students, the University of Ljubljana ranks among the largest universities in the world scale. A total of 22 faculties, 3 academies of art and 1 university college employ approx. 3500 teaching and research staff, assisted by nearly 900 technical and administrative staff.
Faculty of Social Sciences: The Faculty of Social Sciences is one of the largest academic units of the University of Ljubljana with over 4,000 students and more than 20 undergraduate and graduate programs in political science, sociology, communication, and cultural studies. Faculty of Social Sciences has profound experience in social surveys. It regularly conducts Slovenian general social survey (from 1965), a monthly Political Barometer, regular RIS surveys on information society and numerous other surveys.
The Centre for Methodology and Informatics: The Centre for Methodology and Informatics at the Faculty of Social Sciences is one of the 15 research units and it focuses on social science methodology, statistics, information technology and issues related to information society. The Centre particularly specialised in network analysis, Web survey methodology and issues related to social informatics. The Centre is also associated with ECPR international "Ljubljana Summer School" of social science methodology.
RIS project: Within this Centre, the activities of the RIS project (http://ris.org) become the leading one in Slovenia for Internet research and issues related to digital divide, Internet security, privacy, digital literacy, e-banking, e-shopping, e-learning etc. Up to now, around 100 major reports tackling a variety of topics in the area of information-communication technology (ICT) and information society have been published.
